This year, we are proud to announce that we will be sponsoring HackManchester Junior and we couldn’t be more excited about it!
Hac100, who organise HackManchester Junior and other Hack events, have been running these events since 2012, with the mission to showcase and benefit the tech community by promoting, celebrating and teaching technical skills. HackManchester Junior is for 8 to 18 year olds, to develop their coding skills and have fun. The event lasts the whole weekend, and is a great way to get younger generations involved in technology. Sponsors get to set challenges for the kids, and it becomes an awesome experience to learn, compete and above all things, have fun.
As it’s only our first time sponsoring, we’ve decided to take a step back and not set any challenges, but instead to admire what is going on in front of us (and so that we have extra time to prepare our challenge for next year!).
So why have we chosen to sponsor this awesome event?
There are really 3 main reasons:
- To invest in the next generation – This sort of competition is great for encouraging enthusiasm for technology. We want to help shape the future minds of our industry. We want to share our passion for software development and how it can be used to improve the world we live in.
- To improve ourselves – Teaching really highlights areas you aren’t confident in. This helps identify learning opportunities. You also get to see the capabilities of different technologies that you might not of seen used before.
- To be inspired – The HackManchester Junior contestants produce some awesome stuff. It’s a great reminder of the importance of imagination and a willingness to give it a go in our industry.
Generosity and innovation are two of our values. We aim to be generous with our skills, knowledge and time for the benefit of our colleagues, customers and our industry, and we have a voracious appetite for learning. We hope to continue to sponsor a whole range of events which can fulfil our values and allow us to give something back to the tech community.
